This Monday there will be no official meeting at the Hilton due to the holiday bridge ( 1st of Mai) We have received a total of five (5) registrations for this bridge day chat meeting and have reserved a table the Georgenhof beginning at 7 pm inside the restaurant under the name "Rotary" (Steven). If more than 8 Friends show up, we may need a bigger table to accomodate any Friends and/or Guests wishing to attend. |

May 04, 2024 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
The tour will go from Schäftlarn to the Hofbräukeller. I chose a way that will mostly avoid roads with traffic, trying to go through woods and along the Isar.
There is one steeper incline fairly early on, but otherwise it’s mostly down-hill. 27 km, doable for most people, I believe.
Plan:
S-Bahn from Main station to Hohenschäftlarn, S7, leaves every 20 minutes. I suggest the 10:13, arriving 10:43, (for the “late comers” 10:34, arrive 11:03).
We leave just after, 11:05 at the latest.
The tour takes 1 h and a half (see below), but I think we should plan in a short stop for the less ambitious at Forsthaus Wörnbrunn, about midway after 14 km or 45 minutes.
ETA Hofbräuhaus between 1 pm and 1:15, depending on length of stop.
More ambitious people could start for Wolfratshausen and meet us at Hohenschäftlarn.
Please register no later than Friday, 26.4. so that I can pass on the reservation numbers for the Hofbräukeller to Frau Dussmann. And don’t forget: The more the merrier, so take your partners, kids, friends … along!
Please don’t forget to transfer at least 17 EUR (rounded up) to Rotary Germany per participant as stated in the letter of our governor passed on by Bortolo:

PROGRAMM ( DRAFT) A re-discovery of Lake Garda through a new key: the signs left in the culture, architecture, crafts, cuisine and language by Venice, which ruled here for over 400 years. Some historical places to visit: - The Palazzo del Capitano (now the Town Hall) in the centre of Salò and the Musa museum, which houses a section dedicated to the Serenissima. The guide will be Lisa Cervigni, director of the museum. - The MArteS - Museo d'Arte Sorlini, in Calvagese della Riviera, with all the paintings by Venetian artists and subjects, which were to decorate a palace owned by the family on the Grand Canal and then remained on Lake Garda. Guide: Dr Stefano Sorlini, owner. - The Casa del Podestà, an enchanting place a stone's throw from Desenzano, with the Rocca and the panorama that sweeps over the horizon. Guide: Dr Stefano Lusardi, art expert and curator of the Foundation. - The Valle delle Cartiere, where precious paper was once made for the Serenissima Republic of Venice, with machinery powered by the water of the Toscolano stream. A beautiful green area with the remains of the ancient paper mills where today, in the Paper Museum, assistants help you make your very own sheet of paper. Guide: Dr Silvia Merigo, director.
